Destiny Calls - the Dallas chapter.
This post will be a mixture of what Gabe has already posted and what I am adding on to it...as it should be.
The adventure started a couple Thursdays ago as I packed up all my things and headed to Dallas with Gabriel. Destiny had called us, as it often does for us Belmont's and we were ready to face the challenges ahead.
Press Start:
(achievement unlocked: Destiny Calls)Gabe had made a promise to Ashely before he left that we would not get arrested. I didn't know if I still had an outstanding ticket in Houston and if so if it was a state issued ticket or at city issued ticket. Needless to say when we were pulled over in Palmer for my license plate light being out I handed Gabe my wallet and gave him my PIN number so in the event I was locked up he could get me out and we could continue our journey. I checked out clean and we moved on our way, relieved.
(achievement unlocked: Almost Arrested)We started talking about Silent Hill when a remix of some song came on and crazy static came over the radio. This should not have been possible as we were listening to a CD. Right after that, in the middle of bum fuck no where the DIESEL sign off the road is only flickering DIE. It was also raining off and on.
(achievement unlocked: Need New Pants?)Later I informed Gabe that the copy of EGM that he had with him, a magazine which we both grew up on, was the last issue ever to be printed. He was devastated.
(achievement unlocked: To Break a Belmont's heart)We crashed out with a very drunk Sarah and her boy friend the first night. While driving around town the next day nearly broke our promise to Sprite (don't get in an accident), spinning out on the wet gravel approaching the overpass.
(achievement unlocked: Nearly Accidental Accident)Hit a couple 1/2 price book stores. Got myself a nice history of "EC Comics" and "Tales from the Crypt". Also picked up an old "Tales from the Crypt" audio book in which one of the stories is read by Tim Curry. Win.
There we were later, stuck in traffic, beating up the steering wheel and just about lost when "Never Gonna Give You Up," comes on. Gabe and I hold hands and turn it UP, singing to a van full of foreigners.
(achievement unlocked: Instant Morale)The restaurant: We meet up with Bruce, Larry and Dani. Gabe gets to meet some of my Dallas crew up there and we relax before heading to Larry's place to prep for the Brass Ball.
(achievement unlocked: [patron] Marga-f'n-ritas, good friends and good times)The Steampunk Brass Ball at the Church: (Party members = Myself, Gabe, Bruce, Larry and Morgan) Pretty people everywhere. There were some hardcore steampunks, there were also a lot people there who thought that just putting goggles on your head makes you a steampunk. We had a friggin' blast, to say the very least. The magic show was amusing, the "fashion" show was pretty much a joke. But what can you expect from the company that produces EVERYTHING that goes into Hot Topic?
Gabe danced with the equivalent of what he says could have passed for Tyra Banks sister and got a lot of cleavage in his face while they danced...and he never even learned her name. Meanwhile I was in the 80s room working up the nerve to ask this cute, shy little red-head to dance (we had been exchanging glances for about 20 minutes) but apparently she got up the guts before I did and came over to me. This leads to her being completely nervous and when when sat down to ask me for a light for her clove I had to tell her to turn it around because she was holding it backwards. She was about as red as her hair.
We danced, I got a phone number, which has never happened to me really at a club or bar (man does she like to txt message). After she left I met back up with my party got some more dancing on with Morgan and got ready to wind the evening down.

(achievement unlocked: V is for Victory)Bruce was kind enough to take us in for the evening and we got to meet his awesome wife and baby. Their apartments are so fucking amazing. Aside from going out to get groceries and go to work there's no need to leave the complex. Needless to say, we wanted to stay. On the ride home I took full advantage of the fact we were in Dallas.
(achievement unlocked: Smokin' in de Dairy Queen)We stopped close to Houston to put some air in the tire and saw a couple accidents. As we approached the over pass with the rain still coming down and the sunlight just beginning to break the clouds over Houston, the perfect song came on (Final Fantasy VII: Those Mako eyes OC remix, I believe). Our phones went silent, we smoked our last 2 cigarettes reflecting on our grand three day adventure.

(achievement unlocked: The Battle Rages On)Achievement point total = 1000gp...this is exactly what I needed. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this wonderful weekend. I couldn't have asked for more.
